More Guest Spots!

I recently had the honor of appearing as a guest on not one, but two more LGBT podcasts: Strange Fruit (an NPR show brought to you by WFPL) and The Gay Files.

I am beyond thrilled to have been able to unpack serious topics like bi-erasure, racial prejudice in the queer community, and the fetishization of black bodies with Jaison Gardner and Dr. Kaila Story on Strange Fruit.

It was also a delight to discuss the peculiar life of Bavaria’s most famed (and arguably gay) royal, King Ludwig II, with Kiwis turned Londoners, David Blanco and Andrew Howatson of the Gay Files.

You can find and subscribe to each show by clicking the cover art below. Links to the my specific episodes can be found below as well.

Recently Guest Hosted on History is Gay!

histoA couple of weeks back, I had the pleasure of appearing on History is Gay, a podcast that examines the lives and personal identities of queer folks through the ages.

With her regular co-host Gretchen absent, Leigh and I discussed war poet, Siegfried Sassoon. Listen in for an episode rife with tragedy, bi-erasure, and as many quips as we could fit it! (Available on Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your shows.)

I was Nominated for a Liebster Award!

Much thanks  to Roderick Wills – Check out my response to the Liebster questionnaire, and my nominations below:

What three books would you pick if you were told that these were the only ones you could read for the rest of your life?

1984, Kafka on the Shore, Requiem for a Dream.

If you were to live in any part of the world for a year with all expenses paid where would you go and why?

I’d go off to live in one of those floating Polynesian villas. I love idea of being surrounded solely by the sun and the ocean. I’d use the time as a writing retreat.

What type of computer do you have?

An older mac.

Did you have to check to answer the previous question?

Proudly, I did not!

Are there any people, famous or otherwise, whom you have attempted to or are emulating?

I’ve been influenced by a wide range of artists (from Oscar Wilde and F. Scott Fitzgerald to Maya Angelou and Andy Warhol) that my work has definitely borrowed elements from over time.

Would you rather go to a music festival of your choice or on a week long cruise to a destination of your choice?

Week long cruise! I’ve been to plenty of music festivals, but I don’t get out to enough cruises.

Puff on a joint or sip on some wine?

What was it Oscar Wilde said? “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”

What is your earliest memory?

Riding around with training wheels!

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

I slept in and had lunch actually.

Would you ever get a tattoo? If you already do or would what’s the meaning behind your ink?

I have about six tattoos, and they all mean something different. The one that means the most was done in honor of my late grandfather.

Luck, Fate or Karma? Is what we do predestined or do our actions influence our future?

I am a total believer that what we do influences our future. Karma, I feel is woven into the fabric of existence – kind of a universal check/balance system. I don’t know about Fate vs. Luck. I’ll get back to you on that.

I nominate the following admirable poets:

Matt Miller

Jacob Ibrag

Keith Garrett

Glenn Thomas

Samasya Tapasya
